Installing Google Drive File Stream

  1. Log into your google drive account

  2. Click on the Settings Icon in the upper right hand corner of the page

  3. Click Get Drive for Desktop

  4. On the page you are taken to click on Download Drive for Desktop

  5. Once it is downloaded run the program and follow the instructions it gives you to install it

    1. You can find the download in your Downloads folder

    2. Double click it to Run

    3. Click Continue and Install as needed to install

    4. Sign in with your Vianations Google account when prompted

  6. You should now see Google Drive in your File Explorer (for Windows) / Finder (for Macs) window

    1. You will see it with a Drive letter in Windows

    2. You will see it as another Drive in Mac

Accessing Google Drive for Desktop

  1. Open File Explorer

    1. For Macs Open Finder

  2. Click on Google Drive

    1. You should see two folders

      1. My Drive

      2. Team Drive

  3. Click on either of these and view all the folders and files that you have in your Google Drive account

  4. All Via Related folders should be saved in your teams Shared Drive folders

  5. Any personal folders/documents should be saved to folders in your My Drive section of Google Drive

Fixing “Missing Files” issue on Macs

  1. Click on the Google Drive icon in the very top menu bar

    1. The icon is typically found on the right side of the bar

  2. Click on the Gear Icon to open settings

  3. Click Disconnect Account

  4. Click OK or Confirm in the dialogue box that pops up

  5. Confirm that the Google Drive files are no longer syncing/showing on your computer

    1. Open Finder

    2. Confirm Google Drive is not listed under the Drives section

    3. Confirm that there are no Google Drive folders in the folders section

  6. Restart the computer

  7. Once the computer restarts restart Google Drive

    1. Open Finder

    2. Go to Applications

    3. Double click on the Google Drive application

  8. You should be prompted to login

  9. Login with your Vianations account

  10. Confirm that Google Drive is showing under the Drive section in your Finder

  11. Confirm that the Google Drive files are showing now and you can see/access all the files
